On Tuesday, March 8th, the Lexington Three Board of Trustees voted to give first reading approval to a proposed “traditional” calendar for the 2022-2023 school year. This calendar can be viewed by clicking here. The Board of Trustees is expected to give this calendar second reading approval during their monthly meeting in April, thus making it effective for next school year.
The vote comes after the Lexington Three Board of Trustees sought community feedback last month on the possibility of implementing a “modified” calendar in the school district. Through an online survey that generated 636 responses from staff members, students, community members, local leaders and business owners, administrators were able to determine that approximately 39.8% of respondents were not interested in a modified calendar in the district, while approximately 60.2% of respondents were interested in a modified calendar for this year, next year, or would like to hear additional information.
Out of consideration for Panther families and due to the timeliness of the matter, the Board of Trustees deemed it beneficial to proceed forward with approval of the “traditional” calendar for next school year. Board members will continue to examine the results of the community survey and will most likely revisit the possibility of implementing a “modified” calendar in the district early next Fall.
