Lexington County School District Three will be using the three built-in Bad Weather Makeup Days that are in the district’s calendar to reconcile some of the instructional time that was missed as a result of hurricanes back in the fall. Those makeup days will be February 18th, March 15th, and April 22nd of 2019.
A total of four instructional days were missed in Lexington Three as a result of Hurricane Florence in September. An additional day of school was also missed in October as a result of Hurricane Michael, bringing the total number of school days missed this past fall to five. According to South Carolina’s Code of Laws, the first three missed school days must be made up. The fourth, fifth and sixth days that are missed in a district may be waived by the local school board with a majority vote.
The Lexington Three Board of Trustees has plans to discuss the two additional days that were missed last fall during an upcoming meeting. Please stay tuned to The Twin City News, the Lexington Three website (www.lex3.org) and the district’s social media pages for more information that will be forthcoming.
