In year's past, the parade provided the opportunity for senior students to walk the halls of their old schools one final time before walking across the field of Panther Stadium to receive their high school diploma. Last year, however, the COVID-19 pandemic forced the event to be taken to the streets of Batesburg-Leesville in the form of a car parade. The event was so wildly successful that administrators have decided to continue the new tradition this year.
So, on June 3rd, senior students decked out in their caps and gowns will line up in their cars (which will be decorated) at B-L High School. The parade will depart from the high school at 8:30 am and will travel down Summerland Avenue to B-L Primary School. Once finished at B-L Primary School, the parade will then proceed back up Summerland Avenue towards Wendy's. The parade will turn left onto West Columbia Avenue at the Walgreen's, eventually passing by the Lifelong Learning Center and making its way down to South Lee Street where it will turn right to head to B-L Elementary School. After finishing up at BLES, the car line will turn right back onto South Lee Street and then right onto Shealy Road where it will make its way to B-L Middle School, which is the final destination.
Students at all of our schools will be safely lined up outside to view the parade and cheer on our seniors. Parents, guardians, employees of local businesses, community members, etc. are also encouraged to make signs and line the streets of the parade route to show support for the Class of 2021!
