On Sunday, March 15th, Governor Henry McMaster announced that all schools in South Carolina will be closed through March 31st in an effort to stop the spread of COVID-19, otherwise known as the Coronavirus. In addition to the closure of schools, all extracurricular activities, field trips, athletic practices, athletic games and events scheduled at our Fine Arts Center are cancelled through March 31st.
As Lexington County School District Three works through the logistics of this mandatory shutdown, administrators are working hard to properly disseminate information to all of the district’s stakeholders. As we face this unprecedented worldwide health issue, there are many questions yet to be answered. The situation is very fluid and district officials are working closely with DHEC and the State Department of Education to monitor developments and provide staff, students, and families with updated information on a regular basis.
In addition to monitoring email, the district’s social media pages, and other school communication methods, we encourage Lexington Three students, staff, parents and guardians to visit the district’s website (www.lex3.org) and navigate to the page we have dedicated to the Coronavirus situation. That page can be found by clicking on the “COVID-19 Shutdown Information” button at the top, right side of the homepage. There you will find academic lesson plans, health resources from DHEC and the CDC, archived news releases and other pertinent information.
ACADEMIC LEARNING PLANS
Lexington County School District Three is providing academic resources for students and families to utilize during the extended closing. All resources can be found by visiting the district’s website (www.lex3.org) and navigating to the page we have dedicated to the Coronavirus situation. That page can be found by clicking on the “COVID-19 Shutdown Information” button at the top, right side of the homepage.
All learning resources will be updated weekly on Monday by 4 p.m. until schools are reopened. Resources are organized by school. Once you access the school for your student, you can then click on the specific grade or subject area to access assignments.
In the event that you are unable to access the district webpage to get resources for your child, you may email email@example.com or call 803-532-8004 to request that academic resources be sent to your child. You will be required to leave a message and when doing so, please include your child’s name, school, and grade level so that we can provide the appropriate learning resources.
STUDENT FEEDING PROGRAM
Starting on Tuesday, March 17th, Lexington County School District Three will initiate its Student Feeding Program. A few things to remember:
--The feeding program is free to all children under the age of 18.
--Children MUST be present in order to receive a bagged meal.
--Children will receive two bagged meals at a time (one breakfast and one lunch).
--The feeding program will only serve children on weekdays.
--The feeding program will run through at least March 31st.
Lexington Three will disperse meals to children via a bus route with designated stops and through a drive-through line at Batesburg-Leesville Elementary School.
Bus Route Information:
A bus carrying bagged meals will make three stops each weekday at several points within the district’s lines in an effort to make food pick-up more accessible for families. Out of consideration for everyone’s health and well-being, we ask that only one family at a time approach the bus. Please see the bus schedule below for meal pick-up locations and times.

(5321 Fairview Road Batesburg, SC)
12:15 pm until 12:45 pm - Enmarket Convenience Store

Drive-Through Pick-Up at Batesburg-Leesville Elementary School:
Families can also pick-up food at Batesburg-Leesville Elementary School between 11:30 am and 1:30 pm starting on Tuesday, March 17th. The address for Batesburg-Leesville Elementary School is: 403 South Lee Street Leesville, SC. Staff members will be passing out the bagged meals in a drive-through format at the front of the school. Please remember that children still need to be present in order to receive a bagged meal. Families are asked to please not exit their cars out of consideration of everyone’s health and well-being.
As we navigate the next few weeks, Lexington Three wants its students, staff, and families to know that we are here for each of them. We cannot overstate the fact that our number one concern is the health, safety and well-being of our entire Lexington Three family and the Batesburg-Leesville community.
